    Dublin Castle Architectural Photography Stamping Building

    Revenue’s stamping building in Dublin Castle was recently refurbished by the the O.P.W. ( Office of Public Works). the project involved creating a new urban space in front of the building and creating a conference space in the building. The new public urban space creates a pleasing entrance to the Dublin Castle complex. The sculptures are wexford based sculptor Michael Warren http://michaelwarren.ie/.

    The project is a universally accessible design .

    DKIT Carrolls Factory restoration Scott Tallon Walker Architects

    The original Carrolls factory built between 1968 -1970 is on of the finest example of Miesian modernism producing in the state. In 2002, the building was acquired by Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT), to accomodate teaching and administrative facilities for the departments of Informatics and Creative Arts. STW architects refurbished the factory to meet new stringent environmental requirements whilst retaining the essence of the the original factory layout.

    The original design received the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland / Gold Medal – Highly Commended. The refurbishment received an RIBA Award in 2012.

    The civic space creates a raised shared surface to an urban squar. The central area features local limestone, granite details, and specially selected lighting to illuminate the space. The space also featured a small market stall shown about. The square is a significant enhancement of the existing urban fabric, the architectural vocabulary is simple and clear, it amplifies the social environment and enhances the existing vernacular design in a subtle manner.
