Text from Mermaid arts website: Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh is a Wicklow based artist whose work displays an intuitive engagement with the processes of painting and art making. Her solo exhibition at Mermaid Arts Centre, Imlíne, will comprise of solidly structured, richly coloured paintings in which she examines the language and processes of painting. These visual statements hover between abstraction and representation. They vaguely represent or resemble landscape, various types of structures and natural phenomena. Sinéad’s compositions range from the visually dense to austerely minimal and come in closed and open formats – with or without a painted surround that can suggest a window, a frame, a stage surround, or even a story board.
